Five frameworks for staying top of mind without sounding like a quarterly report.
Most GPs know they should be in their LPs’ inboxes more often than once a quarter. Very few are, and the reason is rarely time.
It is that the quarterly report is the only format they have. Anything written outside it feels like it needs the same rigour, the same sign-off and the same length, so it never gets written at all. The choice ends up being a full report or silence, and silence wins.
That gap is the whole opportunity. The GPs who stay top of mind between raises are not writing more reports. They are writing shorter things more often, in formats that carry no reporting burden and take an hour rather than a fortnight.
These are five of those formats. Each one is a structure you fill in and send, built around a specific job rather than a general update.
Five templates, each for a different moment:
Quarterly positioning. Shows your thinking is evolving rather than frozen.
A single company spotlight, framed as what the milestone signals rather than as validation.
One macro observation, with a clear point of view and a question you have not answered yet.
A relationship warm-up for the year before you formally open, with no pitch in it.
Reactivating an LP you have not spoken to in six to twenty-four months.
A subject line formula, a numbered structure to fill in, and a do/don’t guide. The prompts in grey are instructions, so you replace them with your own content.
Frequency matters less than consistency. Pick a cadence you can actually hold.
All five templates, each with a subject line formula, a structure to fill in, and a do/don’t guide.
